Advisory Board
Carol Engel began her career in 1988 working for Dean Witter Reynolds in strategic marketing, evaluating their business and real estate ventures throughout the US. Her passion and creativity quickly evolved as she transitioned into various roles at Cato Gobé, Nigel French, and The Beanstalk Group. In 1995 she founded C.S. Engel & Associates within strategic planning, product design, brand positioning, corporate identity, licensing and real estate ownership, management, development, and brokerage.
Carol has spent the past 15 years in commercial real estate for her family office (Commander Enterprises) as well as outside clients. Her focus is on investment, management, development, construction/design, and brokerage. A recent project included the marketing, clean-up, rezoning and sale of the Commander Oil terminal in Great Neck to AvalonBay. The development transformed the industrial waterfront site into a multi-family residential mid-rise rental property.
Carol was born and raised on Long Island. She graduated from The George Washington University with a BBA in Marketing (1985) and an MBA in International Business (1987). She has remained actively involved with GWU since graduating and was instrumental in cultivating the NYTrek for Undergraduate and Graduate GWU School of Business students exploring career opportunities. Carol is one of the first Board Members of CRES (The Center for Real Estate Studies) and remains actively involved in CRES' initiatives. She also is actively involved in CREWNY (Commercial Real Estate Women) as a Legacy Leader.
