Neil Valsangkar (BA '07) is a Senior Vice President at IMA New York, a full-service, top 20 insurance brokerage firm, and a senior member of the commercial team focused on real estate risk. He advises real estate owners, operators, developers, and REITs on the structuring and placement of sophisticated insurance programs across all property types, including mixed-use, office, retail, multifamily, hospitality, and industrial assets.

Neil serves as a strategic risk advisor to ownership and operating platforms, helping clients optimize coverage structure and policy language, manage loss control and claims strategy, and implement effective contractual risk transfer. He works closely with executive leadership to ensure insurance programs align with asset-level operations, portfolio growth strategies, and financing requirements.

Prior to joining IMA, Neil was general counsel & head of claims at York International Agency, a regional insurance broker. Neil spent the earlier part of his career as a partner at the law firm of Mendes & Mount, where his practice focused on insurance coverage litigation, alternative dispute resolution, claim monitoring, and corporate defense. This background allows Neil to bring a coverage-first, claims-informed approach to protecting real estate portfolios.
